Samsung typically introduces one new book-style Galaxy Z Fold and one flip-style Galaxy Z Flip each year. This year, however, the South Korean tech giant deviated from this trend by launching the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in July, followed by a new Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in October. This Special Edition model is slimmer and lighter than the standard version. According to a recent report, Samsung may unveil two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 next year, with the standard version reportedly using the codename Q7.
Two Galaxy Z Fold 7 Models Likely in Development
Based on a report from Galaxyclub, Samsung is said to be developing two different versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, reportedly codenamed B7, is also in the works, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has the codename Q7. The company is also reportedly working on an additional variant, the Q7M, which could serve as a second model for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 lineup.
The report indicates that development on the Q7M is happening alongside the standard Q7 version, which suggests that the Fold 7 might not be released until later in 2025. This rumored second variant could be another Special Edition model, or perhaps it will introduce a tri-fold design.
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition in South Korea, which offers a more compact and lighter design than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, while keeping the same internal hardware. Priced at KRW 2,789,600 (around Rs. 1,70,000), it comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
Similar to the standard Galaxy Z Fold 6, the Special Edition runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor and has a 200-megapixel main camera. Its screen configuration includes an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch external screen.
